The Good, the Bad and the Holey

This evenings stint in the studio saw the end to us crawling slowly over the floor, pulling out tens of thousands of staples! Yay! One step closer... however we did encounter a minor hitch in the form of a mysterious dark hole. Yes, a hole.

Here we see Lara trying to figure out just what is down there.. to no avail! We went to the floor beneath us, but it's blocked off with a new wall. We have a sneaking suspicion it could be the caretaker's flat... eep!

Anyway, aside from that, the place is looking great!

ooh - once when we were renovating a house we found a hidden peep hole into somebody's bathroom - I hope this is not that sort of hole!

I pulled up carpet in my house because it stunk and it had to go. It had my youngest dry-retching when we showed him the house and we almost didn't buy it based on the smell. Pulled the carpet up and whacko, found it. There was a stain on the otherwise great wooden floorboards. I said, hmm, what da ya reckon that is. Happened to have a carpenter there who looked over his shoulder and went, "dog piss". I went, "WHAT?" And yeap, the old lady we bought off had a very sick labrador who apparently was allowed to continually wee in the one spot. When we inspected the house there was a huge chair over the spot. It was so bad it looked like someone had actually tried to light a fire on the spot. Terrible. On hot days, I imagine I can still smell that smell. I ask anyone coming to the house whether they can smell anything.

Oh my gosh. That's terrible!! Did you manage to get the stain out or was it seeped right through?

You never know what previous owners got up to, hey. Disturbing.
